Goblin Wolf Boys by @blueinvt
Anyone that knows me will tell you that I am a massive fan of Oldhammer, I would even go as far as to say that I prefer the Oldhammer era to the modern-day setting.
Now don’t get me wrong, the new iterations of the game and miniatures are fantastic and love them or hate them, Games Workshop is hands down the best miniature producer in the world (there I said it) and their games are top tier BUT there is just something about the Oldhammer setting and miniature style that has been lost over the years.
With this in mind, when I thumb through Instagram, looking at hobby, I often find others that have the same kind of love of the old and occasionally there’s a painter that really does those classic miniatures justice and Blue is definitely one of those painters.
I have thoroughly enjoyed following Blue’s Goblin Wolf Boys come to life, each miniature is painted with a solid style with generally muted tones and a spattering of spot red and blue to give focal points and just the right amount of punch.
Painting like this makes me want to see an entire army painted in the same style.
A great Instagram account to follow if you like Oldhammer miniatures
A special call-out has to go to Blue’s Greater Daemon of Tzeentch, painted for a challenge set by the Scale Creep blog.
A fantastic Oldhammer model painted as the scheme from the model in the White Dwarf of the day.
Another fantastic thing that makes the miniatures that Blue posts stand out is the photographic composition, which is spot on with great lighting and poses that really show off the painting, we also get to see some awesome scenic shots like the one above.
